Power off the sound system. Disconnect the speaker from the sound system at the sound system. Remove the cover of the speaker box. Set it aside. Plot out where you want to install the lights. Lay the lights in the box where you want them to test for fit. Once you’ve got the lights where you want them, mark the spots on the speaker box. Cut the end of the wire for the LED lights and strip the last half inch of insulation. Repeat for all the strands or bars of lights. Cut lengths of speaker wire that will go between the LED lights.

Strip the last half inch of insulation from the ends of the speaker wire. Twist the marked side of the speaker wire to the positive — usually red — wire for the LED lights. Do the same for the unmarked side of the speaker wire and the negative LED wire — it’s usually black. Repeat for all the LED connections so that all your strands or bars are connected in a chain. Connect a longer length of speaker wire to the last strand or bar in the chain. Find the point where the speaker wire connects to the speakers in the box.

Cut the wire about six inches before the connection. Strip off the last half inch of the insulation on both sides of the cut. Solder the connections. Touch the soldering iron to the exposed metal wire until it’s hot. Touch the solder to the wire until on drop melts off. Remove the solder and the iron. Repeat for all the connections. Staple over the LED strands or bars to hold them in place. Replace the speaker box cover.
